Meanwhile, 2018 was the first year in which a group of products exceeded US$50 billion in export value, according to the General Statistics Office. Data shows that as many as 29 groups of products whose outbound sales have gained over US$1 billion each accounted for up to 91.7% of the total exports. The group of phones and parts took the lead in export value, largely thanks to Samsung Electronics Vietnam and other foreign investors making up 99.7% of the total exports. The price of bio-fuel E5 RON92 petrol decreased by VND515 per liter to VND16,272, while higher-grade RON95-III gasoline dropped VND538 per liter at VND17,603. Diesel oil saw the highest reduction in price, dropping VND1,902 per liter, with the current ceiling price of VND14,909, while kerosene is priced at VND14,185 per liter, falling VND818. Sabeco opposes HCMC taxman’s debt coercion decision By Tam An HCMC – Saigon Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Corporation (Sabeco) has objected to a decision by the HCMC Tax Department to coerce VND3.14 trillion (US$135.4 million) in a special consumption tax and fines for violations of tax laws, as the decision goes against the 2006 Law on Tax Administration, said Sabeco general director Neo Gim Siong Bennett. Under the law, tax debts will be collected if they are longer than 90 days overdue, while the deadline for Sabeco to fulfill their tax obligations was December 27, 2018. In addition, tax authorities can coercively collect the tax arrears in case tax debtors have yet to pay their tax arrears, while the extension of their payment deadline is no longer valid, or if tax debtors seek to flee. The Cao Bo (Nam Dinh) – Mai Son (Ninh Binh) section is the first subproject, which is expected to be put up for bid in April 2019 to find a contractor. Work on the project is scheduled to begin between July 10 to 19, 2019. The second project will be the Cam Lo-La Son section, with a length of 98.3 kilometers, running from Quang Tri Province to Thua Thien-Hue Province in the central region. The subproject is expected to cost VND7.7 trillion.
