The series, which combines elements of family drama, psychological thriller and courtroom procedural, was based on a novel of the same name by William Landay. This follows the recent signing of a co-operation agreement between Viet Nam and the International Organisation for Immigration (IOM), a United Nations organisation. Speaking to IOM director general William Lacy Swing, who has been visiting Viet Nam, Dung said the wish of many people to re-unite with their families after years of separation caused by war was a legitimate desire, and that Viet Nam considered IOM an active partner in settling issues relating to immigration. Trịnh Anh Minh, director and CEO of the company, was prosecuted on grounds of “appropriating property through swindling valued at VNĐ500 million (some US$22,000) or more” as per Việt Nam Penal Code, Article 139, Paragraph 4. This criminal offense, considered “causing serious consequences,” attracts “imprisonment between 12 and 20 years, life imprisonment or capital punishment.” From May 2014 to October 2015, Trịnh Anh Minh signed investment contracts with 263 people, cheating them of VNĐ230 billion ($10.1 million). Funding for the programme came from the Australian government, which provided a total of AUD250,000 (US$194,000). Rector of Đông Á College Nguyễn Thị Anh Đào said the programme would provide a nine-month course for 80 people working in resorts, hotels and restaurants in the central region. This is the first tourism and hospitality training programme, meeting ASEAN standards, to have been established in the central region to provide hospitality training services to the coastal central provinces. Bạch Mã Park to host saola breeding centre

The sao la is a critically endangered creature that was the eighth new large mammal species to be discovered in the 20th century. The selection of the park in the central province of Thừa Thiên-Huế as the breeding site was made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) in technical partnership with the Saola Working Group. The centre is scheduled to be built by the end of this year or early next year, according to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Information about the breeding centre was released on the occasion of the second World Saola Day, observed on July 9 every year. Court expels overseas Vietnamese for disturbing social order

A court yesterday expelled Nguyen William Anh from the country on charge of disturbing social order. — VNA Photo Viet Nam News HCM City – The HCM City People’s Court yesterday convicted US citizen Nguyen William Anh for disturbing social order and ordered him deported for joining a crowd that caused disorder on June 10 in HCM City. At the court, William admitted his criminal actions and expressed his regret. “I very much regret joining the protest. In the future, I would like to come back to Việt Nam and contribute my knowledge to the country,” he said. The court said the defendant is a US citizen and has no right to join a protest in Việt Nam. His action was illegal and caused serious impact on social order, it said. The charge of disturbing social order can carry a two- to a seven-year jail sentence.
