The sea cable route is nearly 8.9 kilometres long, thought to be the longest in the world, with one end in An Thới Town and the other in Hòn Thơm Island, the largest in the An Thới island cluster to the south in Phú Quốc. The maximum speed of the cable car system can reach 8.5 metre per second so the total time from the start to the final station is just 15 minutes. HCM CITY — Three employees of Taiwan-based China Airlines's HCM City office have been arrested for allegedly embezzling nearly US$6 million from the carrier and another airline it represents in Viet Nam. The Public Security Ministry's Police Investigation Department said Pho Vy Nhat, 38, a resident of Binh Thanh District, Diep Kinh Chi and Lu Cam Hy, both 27 and residents of District 11, had forged vouchers and documents to pocket part of the cash handed in by sales agents every day. First it was Nhat who had been working as accountant and cashier from 2006 to 2009. In March 2009, after Nhat quit, Chi and Hy joined as accountant and cashier and continued with the alleged embezzlement. China Airlines said the three had misappropriated nearly $5.7 million from it and $146,410 belonging to Mandarin Airlines also of Taiwan. The incident occurred at 11:10 p.m. when the Boeing 787-9 plane (registration number VN-A865) was being parked at Tan Son Nhat International Airport to prepare for the flight to Osaka. The ladder car, operated by Vietnam Airport Ground Services Co., Ltd, hit the jet, leaving a hole in the lower half of the plane’s back door, reported Tuoi Tre newspaper.
