ASEAN job safety and health meet to kick off in Ha Long City (24-02-2005) HA NOI — The sixth conference of the ASEAN Occupational Safety and Health Network (ASEAN-OSHNET) Co-ordination Committee will take place in Ha Long City, in the north-eastern coastal Quang Ninh Province, from March 17-19. The annual conference will focus on building a webpage for the ASEAN Network, producing films on regional occupational safety, and exchanging information and training experiences. Attendees will also discuss a logo for the ASEAN network, devise strategies for future projects, and establish safety standards and norms. Organisers expect to draw 40 representatives from 10 member countries of ASEAN, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam. Communist Party website launches page in Chinese (04-04-2006) HA NOI — The Viet Nam Communist Party launched its webpage in Chinese at a ceremony yesterday in Ha Noi. Politburo member and head of the Central Party Committee’s Commission of Ideology and Culture, Nguyen Khoa Diem, pushed the button, officially opening the website. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan attended the ceremony, where Diem said the Chinese page will not only help introduce the Party’s policies to the world but encourage feedback from the Chinese Party and people. It will equally enhance exchanges, co-operation and friendly relations between both nation’s parties and people, Diem said. He also asked reporters and editors to focus on continued improvement of the quality of information on the page. Numerous kinds of lights and horns are being sold widely in markets, many of which imitate emergency vehicles. People can buy these lights or horns from VNĐ500,000 to VNĐ3 million (US$22.4-$134.6). People are using these illegal devices to take priority in traffic at intersections and during rush hour. On narrow roads or areas with construction work, citizen vehicles with these priority lights and horns are using them to get ahead of the normal traffic. Apple now displays iPhone and Mac repairability scores in France
