Nation solidifies overarching co-operation with Cambodia (24-02-2005) PHNOM PENH — Viet Nam and Cambodia have reached an agreement to promote co-operation in economy, culture and science-technology at the Joint Committee’s 7th meeting that ended on Tuesday. Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien, also the chairman of the committee’s Vietnamese sub-committee, led the Viet Nam delegation for the two-day meeting. The Cambodian delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, Hor Namhong. Hor Namhong is also the chairman of the Cambodian sub-committee. At the 7th meeting, the two sides reviewed the programmes that have been carried out under agreements made at the previous meeting held in HCM City in February last year. Cambodia supports all border treaties

Cambodia supports all border treaties (19-10-2005) HA NOI — The Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) yesterday announced its support to all border treaties and agreements signed between Cambodia and Viet Nam in 1982, 1983 and 1985. The announcement also made it clear that the CPP supported the signing of the Complementary Treaty to the Treaty on the Delimitation of the State border in 1985 on a basis of equality to build a border of peace and friendship between the two countries. The CPP’s announcement also confirmed the complete support of Prime Minister Hun Sen’s Cambodian Royal Government towards measures to address border issues, including those to reinforce peace, security and the respect for law, and a peaceful life for the people. Cambodia ratifies border agreement

Cambodia ratifies border agreement (26-11-2005) PHNOM PENH — The Cambodian Senate has adopted the Complementary Treaty to the Treaty on the Delimitation of State Border of 1985 signed in Ha Noi last October between Cambodia and Viet Nam. With 49 of 51 votes, the complementary treaty was approved by senators of the Cambodian People’s Party and the Royalist FUNCINPEC Party at the plenary session yesterday chaired by President Chea Sim. Four senators from the opposition Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) walked out while voting. The Cambodian National Assembly had earlier endorsed the treaty, which is still awaiting consideration by the Constitutional Council before King Norodom Sihamoni signs it for promulgation, according to the Cambodian law. Document exchanged with Cambodia on border treaty

Document exchanged with Cambodia on border treaty (07-12-2005) PHNOM PENH — Viet Nam’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Dy Nien and Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation Hor Namhong, met in Phnom Penh yesterday to exchange documents over the approval of the Complementary Treaty to the Treaty on the Delimitation of the State Border signed between Viet Nam and Cambodia in 1985. This complementary treaty was signed by the two Prime Ministers in Ha Noi on October 10, 2005. It was approved by the two countries’ parliaments. Viet Nam’s President Tran Duc Luong signed a decree to promulgate the complementary treaty on December 5, and Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni signed a Royal Decree to promulgate it on November 30.
