APEC ministers call for urgent action to break Doha impasse (03-06-2006) HCM CITY — Trade ministers from 21 APEC member countries and territories issued a statement calling for urgent action to break the impasse in the current round of the Doha round of WTO negotiations after a two-day Meeting of APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT) that concluded in HCM City yesterday. "APEC Ministers representing around half of global trade flows have made a very personal commitment to break the impasse at the WTO and conclude the Doha Development Agenda (DDA) negotiations," Chair of the 12th APEC MRT meeting, Trade Minister of Viet Nam, Truong Dinh Tuyen said at the end of the ministerial meeting. Breaking a drug ring by post

HA NOI – A foreign drug ring, smuggling drugs into Vietnam by post, was busted yesterday by Ha Noi's police and customs forces, and the Drug Criminals Investigation Agency (C17) run by the Ministry of Public Security. Trương Thị Nga, Nguyễn Thị Hồng Vân and Nguyễn Hà Chung, were arrested at Thanh Xuân Post Office in Ha Noi on Wednesday. Evidence included more than 450 grams of dried marijuana flower bubs, hidden inside two cell phones in a parcel sent from Canada to Ms Trương Thị Nga, of the Hà Vân Limited Company based in Thanh Xuân District. Đà River water pipeline breaks again

Workers are fixing the broken Đà River water pipeline. — Photo www.baogiaothong.vn Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — The Đà River water pipeline broke yesterday afternoon, disrupting water supply to thousands of households in Hà Nội for 10 hours. Workers from the Vinaconex water supply joint stock company (Viwasupco) were immediately sent to the site to repair the pipeline and the water supply was resumed this morning. The pipeline breach affected about 70,000 households in Thanh Xuân, Hoàng Mai, Hà Đông and Cầu Giấy districts. The second phase of the project commenced in October 2015, which will serve a chain of urban areas, such as Sơn Tây, Hòa Lạc, Miếu Môn and Hà Đông, and serve as an additional water source to Hà Nội. The project, in which Viwasupco has invested VND4.9 trillion ($219 million), aims to meet the local residents’ need for clean water following several breaks of the old pipeline.
