You’ve probably heard some in Alabama say “thank goodness for Mississippi.”Well, in the case of a new ranking from US News & World Report, the more accurate description would be “thank goodness for Louisiana.”Released today, the ranking looked at 80 metrics, including economy, infrastructure, public safety, fiscal stability and opportunities for residents, to determine the best and worst states. The rankings also factored in healthcare, education, crime and corrections and the natural environment. Several New Jersey schools were named among national universities in the 2019 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings. Princeton University was ranked the top overall among national universities, according to the 2019 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings. Meanwhile, Rutgers University was tied for 56th among national universities, followed by New Jersey Institute of Technology tied at 106th. For Princeton, the top ranking is the eighth consecutive year for the university. The Ivy League school lists a total enrollment of 8,273. Tuition and fees are $47,140. At Rutgers, room and board is $12,706. In-state tuition and fees at the school are $14,974 while out of state tuition and fees are $31,282. Total enrollment at the school is 49,577 and the application deadline is rolling. At NJIT, tuition and fees are $30,598 and room and board totals $13,808. The total enrollment is 11,446.
