The president solved that a long time ago.” Fact-free zones are not hard to find at political rallies, but the view that three summits with the North Korean leader have solved the North Korean threat is especially worrisome and naive — and North Korea hasn’t even delivered to its promised “Christmas gift” yet. What North Korea is vowing to send to the United States in December is anyone’s guess at this point. Another intercontinental missile, perhaps, but this time an upgraded one with new generation solid-fuel engines? Perhaps a submarine-launched ballistic missile is being boxed and sent special delivery. Whatever it is, it won’t be wrapped … [Read more...] about North Korea is everybody’s problem, so Trump must change his approach

A representative for Vice President Mike Pence has responded to inquiries made by House Democrats into the VP’s trip to Ireland earlier this month. Mark T. Short, Pence’s chief of staff, sent a letter to House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD) regarding the latter’s investigation into the vice president’s recent trip. The Daily Wire previously reported that Cummings demanded documents from the White House, the Vice President’s Office, the Secret Service, and the Trump Organization, none of which handled Pence’s travel and accommodations for Ireland. “Please be advised that the Department of State approved all lodging accommodations for the Vice President and [Office of the Vice President] OVP staff related to the September 2019 trip to Poland, Ireland, Iceland, and the United Kingdom,” Short wrote in the letter, obtained by The Daily Wire. “OVP did not book or reserve any of the hotel … [Read more...] about Mike Pence Responds To House Democrats’ Investigation Into Ireland Trip

US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un were preparing to meet on Tuesday to negotiate an end to the nuclear standoff on the Korean peninsula. The one-on-one will be the first ever meeting between sitting leaders of the two nations. Kim and Trump initially plan to meet without any aides besides translators, prompting concerns from diplomatic experts on the lack of official transcript and the prospect of diverging accounts. Read more: US, North Korea begin preparations for historic summit High stakes Both leaders have a huge amount riding on the outcome of the talks. Trump has all but set total denuclearization of the peninsula as a condition of the meeting, and if he comes out empty-handed he risks his self-made image of a deal-maker. For its part, North Korea is buckling under the weight of heavy international sanctions for its repeated nuclear and ballistic missile tests. It also holds a strong hand with the threat of devastating firepower pointed at … [Read more...] about Donald Trump, Kim Jong Un prepare to meet in Singapore
President Trump promised yesterday that peace is at hand in his trade war upon China. “We have agreed to a very large Phase One Deal with China,” he tweeted at 10:25 a.m. “They have agreed to many structural changes and massive purchases of Agricultural Product, Energy, and Manufactured Goods, plus much more.” Beijing also announced that the two sides had reached an agreement.Yet the first reports on the details suggest something less than a “very large” deal—it seems more a pause and truce. Still, the world will be spared the round of United States tariffs that were scheduled for December 15. By 2020, Trump's trade wars could cost the global economy $700 billion, the International Monetary Fund estimates. More tariffs would have cost more still.Under the deal, China will increase some agricultural purchases from the United States, which it would have done anyway because the country is in the throes of a swine flu that has killed 100 million … [Read more...] about Trump Got Tough on China.
