The fire broke out at about 11am on the second floor of a building, owned by the Thanh Ngan Informatics Trading and Service Ltd Company, and located at 77, Phan Ngoc Hieàn Street in District 5, Three fire engines were sent to the site, and they quickly brought the fire under control. Bùi Xuân Cường, director of the Department of Transport, told a meeting on June 19 that one of the reasons they still occur in some places is the plethora of traffic infrastructure works in the downtown area. Lê Hồng Việt, deputy head of the department’s inspectorate, said inspections of the works have been stepped up, and warned contractors to speed up work so that temporary fences around construction sites could be removed soon.
