Nong Duc Manh told election officials they must ensure the success of the most important political event of the year, yesterday. Speaking at an election meeting, Manh said the task would not be an easy one because of new regulations and policies ratified by NA members. "The new 12th National Assembly will have many responsibilities," Manh said. HA NOI — National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong asked the election council of the 13th National Assembly and the People's Councils at all levels for the 2011-16 term to co-ordinate with relevant offices and carefully examine legal documents to ensure a fair election to be held on May 22. Trong, who is also the Party General Secretary, made the request at the first meeting of the election council yesterday where a range of issues were discussed. He urged official responsible for organising the election to gain a good understanding of the regulations and make sure elections are carried out properly and punctually. They must avoid negligence that might adversely impact the election process, he said.
