Manchester United boss Solskjaer is currently at Old Trafford on loan from FC Molde, who he left temporarily back in December. The 46-year-old wants the Red Devils job on a permanent basis, however, and has done little to hide his feelings on the matter.Ahead of Manchester United’s crunch Champions League second leg showdown with PSG at the Pard des Princes, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed that he did not have a Molde contract."I'm not quite sure how it works," he said when asked about his contract and why his Twitter bio still read 'Manager of Molde.' Facebook announced the purchase of the mobile messaging service WhatsApp on Wednesday, in a $19bn deal that represents the social media company’s biggest acquisition yet. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, described five-year-old WhatsApp as an “incredibly valuable” service that was well on its way to connecting 1 billion people around the world. The deal is a big bet for Facebook, which has until recently struggled to convince investors of its strategy for mobile. WhatsApp has more than 400m users around the world and claims it is adding more than 1 million new registered users a day. It allows unlimited free text-messaging and picture sending between users and is among the world’s most downloaded mobile apps. Facebook’s successful bid comes after Google reportedly made a $1bn offer for the company last year. “WhatsApp is on a path to connect 1 billion people. The services that reach that milestone are all incredibly valuable,” said … [Read more...] about WhatsApp: Facebook acquires messaging service in $19bn deal
KEWAUNEE - Counties across the state need to upgrade their analog 911 call centers to digital technology — sooner rather than later. The money already exists in Wisconsin's coffers to cover the upgrades — it was meant to go to a fund started for that purpose. However, it doesn't always make it there. Now, a number of Wisconsin's counties, Kewaunee among them, are asking the state to use the money for its originally stated purpose. The County Board approved a resolution at its Dec. 18 meeting "urging (the) State of Wisconsin to fund Next Generation 911 upgrades." The resolution, like those filed by 10 other counties within the past three months, asks the state to use revenue from its Police and Fire Protection Fee to allocate a total of $7 million a year so all 72 counties can modernize their response centers to handle the changeover to the digital Next Generation 911 — or NG911. NG911 will enable the call centers — Public Safety Answering Points, or … [Read more...] about Kewaunee County asks Wisconsin to upgrade 911 center to unlock text, photo message options
NEW YORK — Text messages exchanged between notorious Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman and his wife while he was on the run in 2012 surfaced Wednesday at his U.S. trial, evidence the FBI says it uncovered with the help of a cyber tech for the cartel who flipped on the kingpin. The tech, Christian Rodriguez, testified how Guzman was obsessed with spyware he had Rodriguez install on mobile phones he passed out to members of his inner circle, including love interests, to keep an eye on them. The software churned out reports on phone activity that are now being turned against the defendant. In the David versus Goliath matchup that was the Hamlin-Wellington playoff game Friday, I guess I shouldn't be that surprised. David did win his battle, after all. As did the Pied Pipers, who sent the Texas high school football world into a frenzy after taking down No. 2 Wellington 21-18. Hamlin used an all-worldly defensive performance to slay Goliath, a Skyrockets team that entered the contest 12-0, outscoring opponents 610-84. Not many gave Hamlin much of a chance. That didn't matter to the Pied Pipers. "We believed it could happen," Hamlin coach Russell Lucas said. "We had to convince our kids that it could happen. I just felt like we had a great week of practice, and our kids were just very confident. They knew (Wellington) was good, but they feel like we've got a good team." Wellington came into the night averaging 50.8 points per game. The Pied Pipers thwarted the Skyrockets attack with four turnovers, one that provided a massive momentum swing. Hamlin scored on the game's … [Read more...] about Big Country Notebook: Hamlin sends shockwaves throughout state with upset of Wellington
