March 25 (UPI) -- Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell on Monday blocked a resolution calling for Robert Mueller's report on the Russia investigation to be made public. The move quashed an effort by Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer of New York to match a resolution the House passed unanimously March 14. The measure seeks to make the entire report public. Speaking from the Senate floor, McConnell said though that Attorney General William Barr should be allowed to work with special counsel Mueller on redacting secret grand jury material and any content related to ongoing investigations before it's made public. "It's not unreasonable to give the special counsel and the Justice Department just a little time to complete their review in a professional and responsible manner," McConnell said. "Remember, as I said earlier, we're likely dealing here with potential other prosecutions, classified information, damaging people's reputation. Public speaking quotes
Washington (CNN)Federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson on Thursday dramatically restricted Roger Stone's ability to speak publicly about his case after he published an Instagram post with what appeared to be the crosshairs of a gun drawn behind her head. Stone may now not speak publicly about the investigation or the case or any participants in the investigation or the case. "Period," Jackson said. The development will in effect silence one of the most outspoken and politicized former advisers of President Donald Trump, as Stone fights against special counsel Robert Mueller in a case related to his interactions in 2016 with Russians and the Trump campaign. Jackson made her revision to her previous court order that had prevented Stone from speaking in and around the courthouse. Jackson's new mandate came swiftly and sternly in a court hearing in which Stone got tripped up by his own story and apologies. Andrew "FDR" Cuomo held his third inauguration at Ellis Island on New Year's Day, using the most powerful symbolic backdrop available to trumpet, yet again, his progressive heart and legislative agenda. He should also have been carrying a surfboard, since he's riding the "blue wave" as high and far as it will take him. Politicians reinvent themselves all the time. It's part of the job, even if a lot of voters prefer a political purity that's not altogether realistic in a business of negotiation and compromise. For Cuomo, a slide to the left makes too much political sense — if he can pull it off. For one thing, anti-Trump sentiment remains strong in New York, particularly downstate, energizing a growing Democratic base desperate for leaders. For another, Democratic control of the state Senate ensures that a tide of progressive legislation will be heading to the governor's desk, anyway. Additionally, despite Cuomo's easy re-election, third … [Read more...] about After slamming Trump, quoting FDR, what will Cuomo actually do?
I do not know the real Donald Trump. Is he the Donald Trump painted by Fox News and Breitbart? Or is he the Donald Trump painted by ABC, CBS, NBC, USA Today and the Wall Street Journal? Regardless of your opinion, we can agree on this. There are ongoing investigations swirling around the Donald Trump Presidency. These are driven by Robert Mueller’s team, our intelligence communities and by both parties in Congress. Eventually facts will be determined that bring focus to the rumors and finger pointing. What part did Russia play in our last Presidential election? Were unlawful actions taken by those associated with the Donald Trump Administration? Or is all of this just a political witch hunt? Yet, beneath all of this controversy is a movement brewing that none of us should take lightly. It is the threats (veiled or otherwise) against Americans like you and me by some of the people associated with Donald Trump. People like Roger Stone. Who is Roger Stone? He is a lobbyist, … [Read more...] about Does Roger Stone speak for Trump, or for you?
Corrections and clarifications: An earlier version misstated when quote #58 was made. It was from 2004. Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, turns 70 Tuesday. If elected, he'd be the oldest person ever elected to a first term as president. While his 2016 presidential campaign was his first bid for public office, Trump is hardly new to the public eye. A look back at 70 quotes from interviews, books and tweets that epitomize the man, the brand, the provocateur and the potential president that is Donald J. Trump. Trump on himself 1) "I'm just a f------ businessman." (Fortune, 2004) 2) “The show is ‘Trump.’ And it is sold-out performances everywhere.” (Playboy, 1990) 3) “Certainly a businessperson on television has never had anything close to this success.
