Thus, it was not necessary to develop another law for the commune police. Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Major General Lương Tam Quang, director of the ministry’s office said that the reshuffle followed a directive adopted by the Politburo with the aim of becoming a more efficient and lean agency. Specifically, the ministry would remove six general departments and merge 60 divisions with similar functions into just over 50. So far, nearly 300 sub-divisions have been reduced. A total of 20 firefighting departments have been merged into their respective provincial or municipal police departments, Quang added.
