Four deputy prime ministers were elected by a majority of votes – Nguyen Xuan Phuc (95.2 per cent), Hoang Trung Hai (93.8 per cent), Nguyen Thien Nhan (91.6 per cent) and Vu Van Ninh (81.8 per cent). Deputies also approved ministers by a 98.4 per cent majority. Among the 22 ministers, seven have already served in the old government, 15 are new – and two are women. National Assembly debates internet security law

The draft law insists that foreign service providers, including giant internet service companies like Google, Youtube and Facebook, must store Vietnamese customers’ information on local servers instead of on servers located overseas, as currently practised. On Tuesday morning, NA members gathered in the main hall for their second discussion on the draft law prepared by the Ministry of Public Security, which is meant to ensure national security in the age of the internet. What constitutes a closed trial? A closed trial is a trial in which not everyone can be present, as opposed to a public trial. The charges, the verdicts and sentences (in cases where the defendants are convicted), however, must be publicised. Typically in a closed trial there are a trial panel, the prosecutors, court clerk(s), defendants and their lawyers, relevant persons, witnesses and anyone whose presence is deemed necessary by the court.
