Australian Political Exchange Council pays Viet Nam visit (18-04-2005) HA NOI — A delegation from the Australian Political Exchange Council led by Ms Rachel Genevieve Nolan, member of Parliament from Queensland State, has been visiting Viet Nam from April 14-22. While in Viet Nam, the Australian delegation held working sessions with Secretary Doan Van Thai of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, who reported on his organisation’s activities, particularly the youth volunteers programme which has been highly praised and has attracted a large number of young people to join the national socio-economic development. Viet Nam, Myanmar hold first political consultation (04-08-2005) HA NOI — The foreign ministries of Viet Nam and Myanmar held their first political consultation meeting in Yangon from August 1-2 to discuss detailed measures to accelerate the implementation of agreements made during Myanmar Prime Minister Soe Win’s visit to Viet Nam in April this year. Officials from the foreign ministries and representatives from key ministries and economic branches of the two countries also looked into how to hasten the implementation of agreements reached at the fifth session of the Viet Nam-Myanmar joint committee. They agreed to ask the two governments to increase the number of visits by delegations from different levels of all sectors to enhance mutual understanding and trust, and to boost the cooperation between ministries and economic branches. Politics Academy needs to improve, says NA Chairman (06-09-2007) Ha Noi — The National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong asked the National Ho Chi Minh Politics and Administration Academy to improve its training capacity. Yesterday, Trong attended the academy’s first day ceremony for the 2007-2008 academic year. Speaking at the event, he said that the academy should aim to become a national centre of excellence for training leaders for the Party and State, scientific research and political studies. He said training should focus on both political theory and management skills. To fulfil this agenda the academy must renew the training curriculum and teaching methods as well as recruitment and management.
