ASEAN celebrates 38th anniversary (09-08-2005) HA NOI — A ceremony to celebrate the founding day of ASEAN and ten years since Viet Nam became a member of the association was held in Ha Noi yesterday. Present at the event were Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan, Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien, Culture and Information Minister Pham Quang Nghi and ambassadors of ASEAN countries. Speaking at the meeting, FM Nguyen Dy Nien asserted that Viet Nam was proud to have been an active member of the ASEAN family over the last ten years, and to have played a role in the bloc’s expansion. Viet Nam’s position within ASEAN has developed in many different ways in the past decade, in the areas of politics, security and economics, and also in socio-cultural aspects. The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has written to departments of tourism and culture, sports and tourism nationwide, informing them of changes to the five-year visa policy issued by South Korea for Vietnamese who live in the three major cities of HCMC, Hanoi and Danang. Accordingly, the South Korean Embassy in Vietnam noted that since the issuance of the long-term visa policy, the unit has issued 16,000 visas for permanent and temporary residents in the three major cities. A stroke is a medical emergency that occurs when blood v essels in the brain are blocked or ruptured, interrupting blood supply and causing brain cells to die within minutes. The left side of his mouth had suddenly drooped after forgetting to take medicine one day for his hypertension. The drooping is one of the warning signs of a stroke. His family members discovered it and suspected he had a stroke and rushed to a local hospital, but his situation steadily worsened there. Efforts to boost clean water supply

The factory will take water from the bottom of the Đuống River that runs next to the villages. In the first phase of the factory’s operation, clean water will be supplied to about three million people with the capacity of 150,000cu.m per day and then increase to 300,000cu.m per day. In the second phase, the capacity will hit 400,000cu.m per day. Đỗ Văn Đinh, project manager, told the Tiền Phong (Vanguard) newspaper that this factory can replace other water supply units if necessary.
