After real life stories like Raazi and Talvar, Meghna Gulzar is back into her directorial shoes with another story powerful and inspiring story based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. While Deepika Padukone will be seen in portraying the role of Malti, the acid attack survivor, while the male lead is essayed by Vikrant Massey. Massey will be seen as Amol, a social activist and journalist, inspired by the character of Alok Dixit, who is Laxmi Agarwal’s life-partner. The movie is slated to go on floors on January 10, 2020. The wait is finally over as the trailer of Deepika Padukone's much-anticipated film, 'Chhapaak' has finally hit the internet. Based on acid-attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, the actress plays the lead and is also co-producing this film. 'Chhapaak' also stars Vikrant Massey as Deepika's love interest. The film revolves around Malti (Deepika Padukone) who is attacked with acid on a street in New Delhi, in 2005. While Deepika has already spoken about the film being special to her in her previous interviews, the 'Padmaavat' star had an emotional moment at the trailer launch event in Mumbai.
