NA hears 5-year land plan not implemented correctly (19-05-2006) HA NOI — Many provinces were yet to revise land-use plans according to the 2003 Land Law and several districts and communes have either failed to implement the 2001-05 plan thoroughly or carry out evaluation in a timely manner, said NA Economic and Budgetary Committee at the ongoing session of the National Assembly in Ha Noi. The committee made these observations at the presentation of a government report delivered by Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Mai Ai Truc of the five-year land-use plan for 2006-10 yesterday. The committee’s appraisal report, delivered by Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Kien, said that these were problems that had adversely impacted the implementation of the 2001-05 plan and the ones that need to be tackled during the new plan period. The move aims to reduce risks of pollution for water resources and soil and drive green, clean and sustainable agriculture. According to Hà Nội Argiculture and Rural Development, the city has three workshops manufacturing, bottling and packaging plant protection products, and 76 companies and more than 1,200 stores selling the products. The Government has issued a resolution to adjust the planning of land use in HCM City until 2020. —VNA/VNS Photo Viet Nam News HCM CITY — The Government has issued a resolution to amend HCM City’s land use plans for the period until 2020. Following the changes, the city will convert 26,246 hectares of agricultural land into non-agricultural land by 2020, raising the total area of the latter to 118,890ha, or 56.9 per cent of the city’s total land area. By 2020 there will be 88,005ha of agricultural lands, 309ha of unused lands, 913ha of lands for technology parks and 62,704ha of urban lands. The Government has instructed the city to identify and publicise lands for rice cultivation and protect them and review zoning plans for sectors, industries and localities to ensure they dovetail with the amendments.
