Noi Bai International Airport displays huge lotus paintings The Saigon Times Daily Nguyen Thu Thuy is seen working on the project - PHOTO: VNA HCMC - Two large paintings featuring lotus, Vietnam’s national flower, began to be displayed at Terminal 2 of Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on January 3, the Vietnam News Agency reports. The paintings, covering 360 square meters in total, were created in two months by painters from Tan Hanoi Art Company. They feature lotus ponds at sunset, creating a romantic and peaceful corner for passengers at the airport. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Nguyen Thu Thuy, director of Tan Hanoi Art Company, said: “It’s our great honor to be chosen to bring a new look to a corner of Terminal 2 and we are happy when guests and airport staff love the paintings. Hanoi to display Tet fireworks at 30 venues The Saigon Times Daily Hanoi will organize 30 fireworks displays at low and high altitudes to celebrate Tet - PHOTO: NHAN TAM HCMC - In celebration of the Lunar New Year (Tet), the government of Hanoi will organize fireworks shows at 30 different venues across the city. Fireworks will be displayed at both low and high altitudes at six venues – Hoan Kiem Lake, Tay Ho, Nam Tu Liem, Hai Ba Trung and Ha Dong districts, and the outskirts town of Son Tay. As an old trading hub, Hoan Kiem District still clings to its past with tight streets, narrow shop houses, and crowded markets. Long-range fireworks will be let off within 15 minutes of the lunar new year in major cities including Ha Noi, HCM City, Hai Phong, Hue, Da Nang, and Can Tho. Short-range fireworks will be allowed for 15 minutes on the anniversary of the Hung Kings’s death on the 10th day of the third lunar month at the Hung Kings’ Temple and in the city of Viet Tri in Phu Tho Province . On other national holidays, including Independence Day on September 2, the anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory on May 7, and Reunification Day on April 30, fireworks shows will be conducted every five years in years ending in 0 or 5. Vietnamese artist’s artwork on display in France The Saigon Times Daily Part of Thuy Nguyen “Silver Room” installation work, which is now on display at Chateau La Coste in France - PHOTO: VNA HCMC - Thuy Nguyen, also known as Tia Thuy Nguyen, is introducing her installation artwork titled “Silver Room” at the sculpture garden Chateau La Coste in France, becoming the first Vietnamese artist to display artworks there. “Silver Room” is a reflection of the common houses of ethnic minority groups in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. The work incorporates silver gilding techniques of Vietnamese traditional lacquer art, carving techniques on quartz and wood. The artwork has the size of a real house, measuring 16.2 meters in height, 6 meters in width, and 14.9 meters in length. Artifacts from ancient shipwrecks on display in Quang Ngai The Saigon Times Daily Pottery items from ancient shipwrecks on display at the exhibition in Quang Ngai - PHOTO: VNA HCMC - Artifacts found in nine ancient shipwrecks along the coast of Vietnam from Quang Nam to Ca Mau provinces are being showcased at an exhibition center in Quang Ngai Province, Nhan Dan newspaper reports. The exhibits include vases, bowls, plates, and jars found in Binh Thuan Province, ceramic products dating back to the 13th-14th century in Binh Dinh Province, stone statues in the former Ha Tien Province, and thousands of Chu Dau pottery pieces from shipwrecks in Quang Nam Province’s Cu Lao Cham. Other objects are from shipwrecks discovered in Ca Mau, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Kien Giang and Quang Ngai provinces. Particularly, some exhibits originated in China and Thailand. Photos by Argentine journalist on display in town The Saigon Times Daily Argentine journalist Ignacio Ezcurra’s Pentax Honeywell H camera on display at the “Stories from a camera” exhibition - PHOTO: VNA HCMC - An exhibition featuring photos of Vietnam taken by an Argentine journalist opened at the HCMC War Remnants Museum on July 9. The exhibition, titled “Stories from a camera”, is jointly organized by the museum and the Embassy of Argentina in Vietnam to mark the 203rd anniversary of Argentine Independence Day, according to the Vietnam News Agency. On display are 130 photos, artifacts, and documents telling stories about Vietnam in wartime and peacetime. The photos were taken by Argentine journalist Ignacio Ezcurra, who was working for The La Nacion in Vietnam in 1968, and his granddaughter Luisa Duggan when she traveled to Vietnam 50 years later. The exhibition is organized by social enterprise Tohe at the Exhibition House at 29 Hang Bai Street from July 28 to August 4, according to the Vietnam News Agency. The Khong Thoi Gian (No Time) exhibition comprises groups of works under two main themes namely "Love" and "Safe Zone". The participating artists come from Tohe Fun art club such as Ha Dinh Chi, Van Minh Duc, Lee Nguyen Sahae and Pham Binh Minh, and some others from Tottochan Center.
