No prison time for Kenerly bribery charge
Former Gwinnett County Commissioner Kevin Kenerly, accused of accepting $1 million in bribes while in office, was sentenced to 10 years probation, but will spend no time in prison under the terms of a plea agreement approved Tuesday.Kenerly admitted no crime, pleading “no contest” to a bribery charge stemming from a 2010 special grand jury investigation of county land deals. Superior Court Judge Karen Beyers sentenced him to probation and a $10,000 fine at the recommendation of District Attorney Danny Porter. As part of the plea deal, Porter dropped two misdemeanor charges of failure to disclose a financial interest in properties the county rezoned.The plea deal is a surprising twist in a four-year run of scandal that has tainted the once-golden reputation of Georgia’s largest county. Data from the RAC Foundation found that the total income from parking in England 2017-18 exceeded £1.6 billion. This is an increase of five per cent than in 2016-17 in the total income. However, new research has found that the amount of surplus cash generated has generated significantly more surplus cash. A motorist was to pay a £300 parking bill due to an overstaying at a drive thru (Image: GETTY) A customer using a KFC drive thru was handed a huge fine for making a simple error. David Roberts, 64, was handed the £300 bill after overtaking while parking at a drive thru restaurant. He spent £5.70 on his KFC four piece boneless dips meal then parked up, consumed his food and then checked his emails and made some phone calls. Mr Roberts ended up staying for longer than the allotted 90-minute free parking limit by half an hour. He was handed a £100 parking fine for the infringement which increased to £300 after legal costs and interest charges were applied. The motorist now faces a county court battle.
