According to the ministry, it is impossible to conclude that patients are infected with porcine tapeworms based solely on their blood test results. Blood testing is just one of many methods of diagnosing the infection. In addition, patients testing positive for porcine tapeworms do not need to undergo immediate medical treatment. For years, they have ignored request from the province’s authorities to remove their blood clam farm constructions so as to turn the 700ha lake into a natural reserve.
