Resort in Ba Vì asked to dismantle illegal villas

Villas were found to violate land use regulations in Haø Noäi’s Ba Vì District. The villas will be taken down due to the violations. — Photo baogiaothong.vn HÀ NỘI (VNS) — Ba Vì District authorities have ordered Điền Viên Thôn resort to completely dismantle 17 villas by March 30 due to land use violations. Just days earlier, another resort was suspended for the same reason. The villas will be taken down by force if the resort fails to meet the deadline, Ba Vì People’s Committee Deputy Chairman Nguyễn Đình Dần said on Monday. The half-built villas - plus 40 completed and furnished villas in Điền Viên Thôn resort - were constructed on 4.8 hectares of hilly land, of which only one hectare was granted a land use certificate. Điền Viên Thôn resort is in Yên Bài Commune about an hour’s drive from the centre of Hà Nội. The rest of the land was originally owned by local tea and cassava farmers. Their main concern is how to protect the herds from fatal diseases. Đặng Văn Thanh is the owner of a large barn in Minh Quang Commune, raising 250 sows and up to 400-500 pigs. With such a large number of pigs together, if one catches an infectious disease, it would be a disaster for the farm. Thanh said he went extra mile to prevent his pigs from getting sick. “Every pig will have vaccinations for as many kinds of diseases as possible from the beginning. I also spray disinfectant in the barn once a week and use chemicals to remove odour twice a month,” he said. NA Standing Committee members mull tourism bill (24-02-2005) HA NOI — The law on tourism should tap the strengths of all economic sectors to create a modern and dynamic tourism market, National Assembly deputy chairman Nguyen Phuc Thanh has said. He was speaking at a meeting yesterday, chaired by another deputy chairman Truong Quang Duoc, where members of the National Standing Committee considered a draft tourism law. Explaining the need for such a law, Duoc said its predecessor, the Tourism Ordinance, had outlived its usefulness. Though, since being enacted in May 1999, the ordinance had made significant contributions to the national budget and tourism activities, many of its provisions were no longer appropriate, he said. A law was required to provide a legal foundation for the development of the industry, Duoc said.
