He said this while addressing the Việt Nam-New Zealand Business Forum in Auckland, New Zealand, yesterday. The event, which was attended by more than 300 businesses and investors from the two countries, was held in the framework of the Vietnamese Prime Minister’s official visit to New Zealand from March 12-14 . HCM City is shifting to urban farming with a priority in high-tech agriculture, according to Nhân. He said that HCM City and New Zealand had opportunities to improve co-operation and share experiences as well as technology transfer to develop clean agriculture, and improve productivity and the value of products. During his trip, O’Connor will further political links with Vietnamese representatives in HCM City, and then travel to Hà Nội to meet with his counterparts. At the Bà Chiểu Shelter, O’Connor said that it was his first time to Việt Nam. “We have a number of Vietnamese students in New Zealand, studying at universities and involved in other training such as how to fly aircraft,” he said. PM’s N Zealand visit to improve relations (09-05-2005) CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND — Prime Minister Phan Van Khai arrived in Christchurch yesterday to begin his five-day official visit to New Zealand at the invitation of Prime Minister Helen Clark. Khai hailed Christchurch’s plans to bolster co-operation with local Vietnamese governments, saying the two sides should build concrete programmes and projects to make relations even more effective. Viet Nam and New Zealand are preparing to celebrate the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations next month. PM Khai seeks enhanced, multi-faceted ties with EU (28-04-2005) HA NOI/HA LONG — The Viet Nam-European Union relationship is growing positively in many areas of co-operation, particularly in terms of economics and trade, Prime Minister Phan Van Khai said yesterday as he received EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson. The Prime Minister said Viet Nam attached great importance to its ties with the EU. The bloc, one of Viet Nam’s largest export destinations, has taken the lead among countries supporting Viet Nam’s bid to join the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Khai said he hoped Viet Nam and the EU would expand their bilateral relations even further, beyond the existing economic and trade co-operation to cover other areas like science and technology. NA members mull TPP pros, cons

VINH PHUC (VNS)— Joining the TPP was "risky" for Viet Nam, but the country "is capable of handling it", said a National Assembly (NA) high official, hinting at the likelihood of the Pacific-rim nation ratifying the historic trade agreement soon. The Chairman of NA Committee for Foreign Affairs, Tran Van Hang, made his remarks to the press at a two-day conference which opened in the northern province of Vinh Phuc yesterday. More than 70 deputies gathered to weigh in on the latest reports and insights into the benefits and challenges which the Trans-Pacific Partnership is supposed to deliver to Viet Nam, before the agreement makes it way to the NA for approval.
