About a minute ago Greensburg-Jeannette Branch NAACP will hold its annual Arts & Heritage Day and Juneteenth celebration from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. June 15 in Fairview Park, at Old William Penn Highway and Rock Springs Road in Salem. Featured entertainers will be the Rev. Roy Aiken and the Garment of Praise band at 1 p.m. and the Stage Right Sensations at 3 p.m. The event also will include a DJ and line dancing, food and merchandise vendors, children’s craft activity by Home Depot, face-painting, bingo, water balloon toss and an information table. A hot dog and soda will be $3. The park is a historic African-American spiritual retreat center and recreation destination developed during the segregation era. Northeastern Area EMS is mourning the loss of a fellow EMT who died while working during Christmas, according to the department's Facebook post. The department identified the man as EMT Robert Kohler. In a Facebook post Tuesday night, the department explained that Kohler suffered a "medical event" at 8:30 am while on duty. Fellow crew members assisted him and transported him to the hospital where he died approximately three hours later, according to the Facebook post. David Stringer sent a letter filled with racist slurs and derogatory remarks to the local chapter of the NAACP after the group called for a boycott of Prescott until Stringer resigns or is removed from office for his controversial comments about black people.
