Bridgestone Việt Nam, the project sponsor, donated 50 smart trash bins to be placed at roadsides and public parks. The bins are designed to keep organic and inorganic waste separate and have a water filter system and a public-use solar-powered mobile phone charger . The city’s transport department said the project was part of Đà Nẵng’s urban traffic corridor improvement project, funding by Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF). It will allow commuters to pay parking fees through their smart phones or (SMS). Fees for each parking place will cost from VNĐ15,000 to VNĐ30,000 for two hours. The department plans to expand smart parking projects to more public parking area in future. Last year, the city, in co-operation with TMF, launched a new public shuttle bus route costing US$2.9 million to help prevent traffic congestion.
