A 60-year-old man was sentenced to four years in prison Friday after he pleaded guilty to his 13th DUI, according to a Denver District Attorney’s Office news release. Maynard Rome has a history of DUI arrests stretching back to 1986. Since, he has racked up DUIs in Denver, Adam, Arapahoe and Jefferson counties as well as South Dakota’s Lawrence County, the news release said. The prosecution argued that Rome is a danger to the community and that it’s a miracle no one has died from any of his DUIs. “December is National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month and this case deserves to be in the spotlight as a reminder to not drink and drive,” Denver District Attorney Beth McCann was quoted saying in the news release.On June 14, Rome was heading eastbound on Interstate 70 when he drifted into another lane and rear-ended a vehicle, according to a Denver Police Department probable cause statement.
