APPLE could create a "completely wireless" iPhone with no charging ports or headphone jacks. That's according to a top industry expert who claims to have insider knowledge of Apple's plans. Ming-Chi Kuo is a long-time Apple analyst who has correctly predicted most of the firm's announcements to date. According to Kuo, Apple will release a brand new iPhone model without a Lightning port. This handset is tipped to land in 2021, and would potentially be called "iPhone 13". Kuo says that the handset would "provide the completely wireless experience".That means it wouldn't have any charging ports or headphone jacks to speak of. Apple abandoned headphone jacks way back in 2016 with the iPhone 7. The move proved controversial at the time, but the rise of wireless earbuds and Lightning adapters for headphones softened the blow. Apple also sells its own wireless AirPods and AirPods Pro, which are also extremely popular.Removing the Lightning port would mean iPhone owners are forced to go … [Read more...] about New iPhone could have ZERO charging ports or headphone jack for first time ever

Charles Taylor trial could land Liberian ex-president in British jail
The former president of Liberia Charles Taylor is due to appear in a war crimes court at The Hague to learn his fate at the end of a four-year trial and begin a journey that may end in a British prison cell. The first African head of state to be brought before an international tribunal will be in the dock at the special court for Sierra Leone to hear verdicts read out by the judicial panel on 11 charges, including recruitment of child soldiers and looting conflict ("blood") diamonds. Other offences, alleged to have been committed in Sierra Leone between 1996 and 2002 under his direction, involve terrorising civilian populations, murder, rape, sexual slavery and enforced amputations. As the former colonial power in Sierra Leone, the UK has offered to make prison space available for the disgraced Liberian leader if he is convicted. Home for Taylor in the coming years could be a solitary cell in a high-security prison, perhaps Belmarsh or Whitemoor. The gesture of hospitality, made in … [Read more...] about Charles Taylor trial could land Liberian ex-president in British jail
Allotting parking slots and collecting maintenance arrears
I own a flat in a registered society. The builder has sold approximately 400 car parking slots under the stilt to a limited number of owners and earmarked over 40 open slots for visitors. A portion of the 40 feet driveway can be allotted for owners (120 at present) who could not buy parking slots under the stilt. The Society is not permitting these owners to park their cars in the open although they do not come in the way of vehicular movement.Recently, the security personnel employed by the Society (on the direction of the president) has impounded these cars and released them only after the owners have paid a penalty arbitrarily fixed by the said president. Is this not a criminal act which can be reported to the police? In view of the Supreme Court’s ruling on treating car parks as common areas, can the non-allottees move the civil court (since they are unlikely to get justice in the AGM, as they are in minority) for remedy and necessary direction to the Society to cancel all … [Read more...] about Allotting parking slots and collecting maintenance arrears
The all-American warlord
Chucky Taylor stood in the garage of a villa on the outskirts of Liberia's capital, gun in hand. Outside, crimson puddles of rain pocked the red-clay road to Monrovia. By Chucky's side was a spectral figure named Benjamin Yeaten, known as '50' to the legion of mercenaries and former child soldiers he and Chucky commanded. In front of the two men, bleeding and terrified, was a university student accused of aiding a rebel army that was working its way through the jungle towards the capital. It was July 2002, and civil war had been rampaging through Liberia for 13 years, transforming one of Africa's oldest democracies into a ghoulish landscape. Drugged-out militias manned checkpoints decorated with human intestines and severed heads. Small children were forced into battle by the thousands. Women were raped and turned into sex slaves known as 'bush wives'. Enemies were disembowelled, cooked and cannibalised. All told, human rights groups estimate, more than 600,000 Liberians were murdered, … [Read more...] about The all-American warlord
