The father of an New York firefighter who died on 9/11 has again demanded an apology from Rep. Ilhan Omar after she described the terrorist attacks as 'some people did something'. 'She [Ilhan Omar] owes us an apology and we are going to get it,' he said, adding that President Trump was '100 per cent right' for tweeting a soundbite of Omar's comments interwoven with footage from 9/11. Pick Six: The game of the year, the Jameis Winston Experience and why New England can be written off
The big contests keep on coming in the NFL and Week 14 served up some real treats on Sunday night, including what was clearly the game of the year as the San Francisco 49ers recorded a breathtaking 48-46 win over the New Orleans Saints. And that's where this Pick Six will begin...Jimmy G comes up huge for the Niners The perception from our Sky Sports analysts in the studio on Sunday - and among many pundits and sage minds on the other side of the Atlantic - is that the San Francisco 49ers are beatable if you make Jimmy Garoppolo the one to try to beat you. That may sound harsh on Jimmy G but I don't think it's meant as a way to suggest he is a bad quarterback. I feel it is more of a reflection on how he is still growing as a passer, while the San Francisco running game and defense is proving to be top notch week in and week out. But Sunday night's win was a big, big moment for Garoppolo as he threw for 349 yards and four touchdowns. And he came up massive on a fourth down play … [Read more...] about Pick Six: The game of the year, the Jameis Winston Experience and why New England can be written off
N.Y. high school cancels staging of ‘Tarzan’ after parents raised concerns about racism
The audition date was set. On Dec. 4, students at Alexander Hamilton High School in Elmsford, New York, would have the chance to flaunt their vocal chops with the hopes of landing a role in the drama club's highly anticipated spring musical: Disney's "Tarzan." But just days before the scheduled tryouts, administrators announced a change of plans. Instead of "Tarzan," the Westchester County high school would be putting on a musical adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night." The reason for the abrupt change? Two parents complained about racism. "The concerns were over the original story line behind 'Tarzan of the Apes,' " Elmsford Union Free School District Superintendent Marc Baiocco told the Journal News, referencing Edgar Rice Burroughs' story, which was first published in 1912. Baiocco added that the parents were also troubled by the possibility that nonwhite students would appear as apes onstage. According to state education data, the district that includes Alexander … [Read more...] about N.Y. high school cancels staging of ‘Tarzan’ after parents raised concerns about racism
