Magazine names 100 scientists of Asia

Trần Hà Liên Phương from the National University, HCM City. — Photo tuoitre.vn HÀ NỘI — Asian Scientist Magazine has announced its first ever The Asian Scientist 100 (AS100), a handpicked selection of 100 prize-winning Asian researchers, academicians, innovators and business leaders from across the Asia Pacific region. Spanning a diverse range of industries in science and technology, the list comprises honorees from China, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Việt Nam. The list includes two women scientists from Việt Nam, Trần Hà Liên Phương, and Đặng Thị Oanh of Thái Nguyên University. A 2015 L’Oreal - UNESCO Women in Science International Rising Talent, Phương develops fucoidan - based polymeric micelles for cancer treatment and diagnosis. Party official hails nation’s young IT professionals (15-08-2005) HA NOI — The future of the country’s information technology sector is safe in the hands of the bright young generation who are committed to the community and society in general, said Politburo member and Party Central Committee Secretary Nguyen Khoa Diem yesterday. He was speaking at a ceremony honouring 15 "IT Knights" for 2005 held as part of celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Ministry of Post and Telematics in the capital. PM sends VNA letter of praise on 60th birthday (15-09-2005) HA NOI — Viet Nam’s official news agency, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), has successfully accomplished the tasks assigned to it by the Viet Nam Communist Party and State, says Prime Minister Phan Van Khai in a congratulatory letter sent for the organisation’s 60th birthday. Generations of VNA reporters – led by the Party and President Ho Chi Minh – have united to overcome difficulties and contribute significantly to national liberation, construction and defence, the letter says. World socio-economic changes reviewed (12-01-2006) HA NOI — A seminar exploring the impact of the changing world economy on class relations, ideology and culture concluded yesterday in Ha Noi, co-sponsored by the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy and the US Journal Nature, Society and Thought. Exhibition on President Ho Chi Minh’s life opens (18-05-2006) Many young generations repeatedly visits Ho Chi Minh Museum in Ha Noi on the occasion of the President’s birthday. — VNS Photo Doan Tung HA NOI — An new exhibition explores Ho Chi Minh’s life in time to celebrate the late President’s 116th birthday on May 19. Titled "Studying and following the thought and moral example of Ho Chi Minh", the show features nearly 200 images and artefacts, including autographs of President Ho Chi Minh.
