US, Viet Nam look to boost multifaceted relationship (22-09-2006) HCM CITY — The US and Viet Nam can deepen their relationship in the next decade in a wide range of areas, said the US ambassador to Viet Nam, Michael Marine, at a meeting to review Viet Nam-US relations in HCM City yesterday. Marine said both the US and Viet Nam had economies that thrived on the rapid expansion of trade and a stable global environment. He said the two countries were working together to kindle an era of increased global economic growth through open markets and free trade. "This work existed both bilaterally and through regional forums like APEC, ASEAN and, soon, the World Trade Organisation, which Viet Nam expects to join by year-end," he said.
