It's Christmas again, the time of year when British royals generally step up their round of good work and cheery public appearances before disappearing to private celebrations, far from prying eyes. This year is no different. Routine is built into royal life, especially for senior royals such as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles the Prince of Wales, whose busy schedules are usually laid out for them months or years in advance. Each royal year has a certain rhythm: Easter at Windsor Castle, Trooping the Colour and Royal Ascot in June, the annual eight-week holiday at Balmoral in Scotland in late summer, Remembrance Day in November, and Christmas always at Sandringham House. Sandringham: For the past three decades, the queen has hosted her sprawling family at her private estate in Norfolk for the Christmas and New Year holidays. There they exchange cheap gag gifts and sit down to a black-tie Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve. On Christmas morning, they have breakfast (the men go … [Read more...] about Royal Christmas: How are Prince Harry, Meghan, Prince William and Kate celebrating?
Duchess Meghan of Sussex told a well-wisher her baby with Prince Harry could be born very soon, according to a video posted on Twitter. Meghan and Harry and other members of the royal family were greeting the usual crowd of fans who gather at Sandringham on Christmas Day to watch the family walk to and from Christmas services along the path from Sandringham House to St. Mary Magdalene. As Meghan, 37 and now visibly pregnant with their first child, was shaking hands, accepting flowers and chatting animatedly with people lining the path, a cellphone in the crowd wielded by a young woman named Emily Spencer caught one of her remarks. "We're nearly there," she said, smiling, with her hand on her baby bump. Is there tension between two royal duchess sisters-in-law? Or is it between their husbands, Prince William and Prince Harry? Or maybe it's all a lot of tabloid twaddle, of the British variety. That could be the case judging from a tiny video snippet on Instagram of Duchess Kate of Cambridge, 36, sharing her excitement over the "special" birth of Duchess Meghan of Sussex's first baby, due in the spring. It's the first time we've heard Kate saying anything publicly about the next royal great-grandchild for Queen Elizabeth II, and it couldn't have been a kinder remark. During a walkabout with Prince William at the University of Leicester in central England Wednesday, Kate was caught on someone's smartphone shaking hands and talking to well-wishers who asked about her own three children – Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 3, and baby Prince Louis who was born in April – and then about Harry and Meghan's baby. Corrections & clarifications: An earlier version of this post misidentified in the headline and story Web address (URL) the concentration camp visited by the royal family. When the eyes of the world are upon you, deciding what to wear to a concentration camp can be a dicey business. Just ask former Vice President Dick Cheney, who was called out for wearing a parka to a memorial event at Auschwitz in 2005. Duchess Kate fared better, choosing a two-piece Erdem suit with a subtle, floral print while visiting Stutthof, a former Nazi concentration camp, with Prince William Tuesday during their tour of Poland. The white two-piece look by designer Erdem featured a top and skirt with subdued colors in the print, including gray and a faded red. The one risk she took? Her high-heeled beige sandals. The royals kicked off their goodwill trip in Poland yesterday. The duchess stepped off the plane in a white two-piece look by Alexander McQueen, and later wore another … [Read more...] about Duchess Kate is respectful and stylish on Poland visit
