Thánh said that the move followed a regular meeting on Wednesday where Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc asked localities not to receive cars presented by enterprises. Viet Nam News HCM CITY – Three people who got a luxury car smuggled from Cambodia to HCM City and forged its papers have received stiff prison sentences. The Tây Ninh Province People’s Court on Tuesday sentenced Nguyễn Đắc Tuyên, 41, of Hà Nội to 16 years in jail. Two other men, who conspired with him and abetted him in the criminal acts, Phùng Viết Đông, 38, and Phùng Tuấn Anh, 29, got 14 years apiece. They were charged with smuggling and forging seals and documents of official agencies. HA NOi — Ha Noi Police arrested Ngo Doan Phuc, 33, of Hoang Mai District, for allegedly illegally importing luxury cars from Laos and Cambodia for sale in Viet Nam. The police seized four cars, including a Hummer, Land Rover, Toyota Prado and Lexus, worth a total of VND6.3 billion (US$ 315,000). Of the total, nearly 9,200 passenger cars, 3,800 commercial vehicles and 176 special-use automobiles were sold, a respective fall of 67%, 34% and 47% over January. The report also showed that automakers delivered nearly 7,700 domestically assembled cars to customers in February, while there were 5,500 imported completely built-up (CBU) vehicles sold, dropping 59% and 63% month-on-month. According to Toyota Vietnam, it sold 2,300 vehicles last month, excluding Lexus ones, a decline of 20% over the same month last year.
