Of the eleven Party committee units disciplined in the southern province, four units will have to review their acts, four will face criticism, and three will receive strong warnings. In terms of individuals, 10 Party executive committee members, including seven at the district level, were recommended for punishment by the district Party committee. Two will be expelled from the Party; one will be dismissed from his current position, four will receive strong warnings, and three will face criticism. In addition, 12 members of executive Party committees at the commune level will be punished, receiving expulsion, dismissal or criticism from the Party. Kien Giang urged to utilise coastline (24-03-2008) KIEN Giang — Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh encouraged the southern coastal province of Kien Giang to develop its sea-based economy, during a tour of the area from March 20 to 22. He highlighted the fact that Kien Giang has close to 200 km of coastline and is home to the country’s most important fishing ground as well as the largest island, Phu Quoc, which has been attracting a growing number of tourists. General Secretary Manh commended Kien Giang for its socio-economic achievements, including an economic growth rate of 13.2 per cent in 2007. The provincial income per capita reached US$836.7 last year, a high level for the region.
