Kamala Harris didn’t do a great many things well in her crash-and-burn campaign for president. But her swift exit from the race was executed perfectly.By quitting when she did, Harris avoided embarrassing losses in several early contests and, most important, her home state of California, preserving her status as a leading vice presidential prospect and positioning her as a strong candidate for a place in the Cabinet, such as attorney general, in a Democratic administration. The freshman U.S. senator also gave herself more than adequate time to politically recover ahead of a 2022 reelection campaign, should she decide to seek a second term. Not that Harris need worry too much about hanging onto her Senate seat — though some remedial work remains to be done. Advertisement Speculative talk has circulated of a challenge within the Democratic Party; one name mentioned is billionaire Tom Steyer, should his presidential bid fail. But even if she faced a primary opponent, Harris … [Read more...] about Kamala Harris quit the presidential race just in time. Here’s what it means for her future

Kamala Harris was distraught as she stood before an audience one morning in July 2016. In the previous three days, violence involving police had rattled the nation.Officers had shot and killed one black man in Baton Rouge, La., and another in his car outside Minneapolis as his horrified girlfriend and her toddler watched. At a protest against those shootings, a sniper had killed five Dallas police officers.“I have to tell you, my heart is breaking,” Harris said at a meeting on racial bias in policing. Her voice wavered.“As a prosecutor, my heart is breaking. As the top law enforcement officer in this state. And as a black woman.” Advertisement Harris, then California attorney general, paid tribute to officers whose families pray they stay out of danger. She also said she’d never known a black man who wasn’t racially profiled or unfairly stopped. It was an unusually frank acknowledgment of the forces pulling her in opposite directions in the two years … [Read more...] about Black men killed by police – what did Kamala Harris do about it?
It’s not at all surprising that a Democrat would call for higher taxes and spending while campaigning. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), who is running for president, said recently she wants to repeal the entire 2017 tax law that cut taxes for the majority of Americans and replace it with a tax cut that doesn’t look like it will help many people. Also, she uses some fuzzy math to explain how repealing the Trump Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) will pay for her education plan even though she has her own tax plan that would replace them. While campaigning in Detroit, Michigan, Harris said she’d “get rid of the whole thing,” referring to Trump’s tax cuts, which gave most Americans a bigger paycheck after they went into effect. Harris’ campaign spokesman, Ian Sams, told Bloomberg that Harris would replace Trump’s tax cuts with her own plan, which would help fewer people. Harris’ plan, called the Livable Incomes For Families Today (LIFT) Act, would … [Read more...] about Kamala Harris Wants To Repeal Trump Tax Cuts For EVERYONE. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) has a potential #MeToo problem on her hands, as Democrats continue to insist that women who make sexual harassment complaints must be believed and the accused men must be held accountable. Back when she was the attorney general for California, Harris’s office negotiated a plea deal for former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner, a Democrat, after the city’s district attorney filed criminal charges against him for his abuse of three unidentified women. Filner agreed to plead guilty to a felony count of false imprisonment and two misdemeanor counts of battery in exchange for a much lighter sentence. Though he faced five years in prison, thanks to Harris’ office he was sentenced to just three months of house arrest, three years’ probation, the partial loss of his mayoral pension, and — at first — a prohibition on ever running for public office again. A judge ended up removing that prohibition and applying it only to the time that Filner … [Read more...] about Kamala Harris’ #MeToo Problem: She Let Democrat Serial Sexual Harasser Bob Filner Off The Hook
A SENIOR shadow minister has defended the Labour MP who mocked Prince Harry’s military record in vile slurs revealed by The Sun - saying “she's entitled to an opinion”. Meanwhile Emma Dent Coad has reacted with defiance to the criticism of her comments to a fringe meeting in Brighton earlier this week. She instead blamed the media for “running the narrative in relation to the Royals”, saying the country should “have a proper debate about the Royal Family”. The Kensington MP had questioned Harry's ability to fly a helicopter when addressing a meeting entitled Reigning In The Monarchy. She told activists: "Harry can't actually fly a helicopter. He tried to pass the helicopter exam about four times and he couldn't get through it at all so he always goes for the co-pilot. "So he just sits there going 'vroom vroom'."Ms Dent Coad, a Republican, also reportedly said Harry and his brother William were "not very bright", adding: "Just let them drift … [Read more...] about Senior shadow minister defends Labour MP who mocked Prince Harry’s military record in vile slurs – as she says ‘she’s entitled to an opinion’
