Instead of having its own spectrum or network infrastructure, ITelecom is powered by Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group. It is the first mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) service in the local market. In the initial stage, ITelecom will offer products and services to workers in industrial zones in nine provinces and cities: Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Binh Duong, HCMC, Long An and Dong Nai. In addition, multiple mobile packages will be provided for different groups of users. The promotion applies to trips of more than 1,000km on the Thống Nhất (North - South) route and TPHCM–Huế route at Sài Gòn Train Station. Passengers booking train tickets 20 days before the departure date will enjoy a cut of 20 per cent to 30 per cent, on routes from HCM City to the central provinces of Quy Nhơn, Nha Trang and Quãng Ngãi. Price reductions will not apply for passengers on air-conditioned four sleeper-seat cabins. Tickets can be returned or exchanged 72 hours prior to the departure date. The carrier will operate four weekly flights on the new route on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The MoIC, under the leadership of new acting minister Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng, released a draft decree to terminate the regulation which required all mobile phone users to register a portrait photo to their service providers by April 24, 2018. The idea was meant to help the Government manage mobile users, said the MoIC at the time, despite mounting criticism of personal invasion and concerns of personal information leaks. The prices of textbooks for the 2018-19 school year are the same as last year’s. — VNA/VNS Photo Viet Nam News HCM CITY — Textbooks for the 2018-2019 school year are selling at the same prices as last year, according to the Việt Nam Education Publishing House Limited Company. The textbook price list is posted at the company’s bookstores and at other companies that supply books and equipment for schools. The publishing house will distribute 40 million copies of textbooks to 17 southern provinces and cities for the 2018-19 school year. As of July 23, in HCM City, 10 million copies of textbooks had been distributed and sold, an increase of 1 million compared to last school year. The company has also published textbooks in ethnic minority languages. The publishing house said that it had been working with provinces and cities to prevent illegally printed textbooks. Central city debuts new public bus routes
New public bus routes are inaugurated in the central city of Đà Nẵng, connecting the city’s downtown and eastern areas. VNS Photo Công Thành Viet Nam News ĐÀ NẴNG — In co-operation with Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF), the central city yesterday officially debuted a new public bus route as part of Đà Nẵng’s urban traffic corridor improvement project. The bus route, which took two years of work and total investment of US$2.9 million, will help boost the city’s internal bus services by offering public car parking areas, bus stops and shuttle bus routes connecting residential quarters and public destinations. The project will also support commuters with free bike parking and smart parking at the departure bus station as well as bus tracking apps on mobile devices. According to the Hà Nội Transport Service Company (Transerco), the new buses will run on routes 55A (Cầu Giấy-Times City) and 55B (Cầu Giấy-Aeon Mall Trade Centre). The buses are painted blue, have a logo and offer conveniences such as advanced emission standards, free WiFi, Light Emitting Diode bulletin boards showing routes and a Global Positioning System (GPS) that announces stops.
