Deputies also heard from the NA Committee for Science, Technology and Environment’s director Ho Duc Viet, who presented an appraisal on the Government’s report on the Ba Ria-Vung Tau gas-electricity and fertiliser project, one of the key national projects approved by the NA. Numerous questions have thus surfaced as to why an island can get inundated, and if there is a way for Phu Quoc to become resilient to weather extremes. Last Friday’s precipitation, measured at 358mm, was the highest ever recorded on Phu Quoc in 100 years since weather records were kept, according to the national weather forecasting center.
