Photo tapchitaichinh.vn Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI – Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc has approved updated plans for Hòa Lạc High-tech Park, to be completed by 2030 in Hà Nội’s outlying districts of Thạch Thất and Quốc Oai. The Hòa Lạc Hi-tech Park, approved in 1998, is the first and the largest hi-tech facility in Việt Nam with total area of 1,586 ha. The park is located along Hà Nội’s Thăng Long Boulevard, convenient for transport links to Nội Bài International Airport and Hải Phòng deep-sea port. It is expected to become a model science city and a national hub for technology development and application. About 12,600 people are currently living and working in the park, and by 2030 the park’s population is expected to reach 229,000, half of which will be permanent residents. Farmers take care of vegetables planted in a greenhouse in Ninh Bình Province’s Yên Khánh District. — Photo baoninhbinh.org.vn Viet Nam News NINH BÌNH – Hi-tech agriculture has helped Ninh Bình farmers earn more profit even though they have to invest more in cultivation, local reports say. In the northern province’s Yên Khánh District, 40 households in Khánh Hồng Commune joined in a 2014 programme to grow vegetables with technical support from the provincial Hi-tech Application Centre for Agriculture. Under this model, vegetables and fruit were planted in glasshouses with automated irrigation systems and the cultivation confirmed to VIETGAP (Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices) standards. The model has earned farmers profits of VNĐ90-100 million ($3,960-4,400) per hectare, much higher than the VNĐ50-60 million ($2,200-2,640) they would earn normally. Đoàn Hùng Anh, deputy head of the park’s management board, said that the PM’s approval would smooth the way for Đà Nẵng to call on more key investors to invest in hi-tech industries that the city has planned in the Master Plan until 2030, with vision to 2050. Phạm Xuân Hùng’s pig farm in Châu Đức District’s Suối Rao Commune is equipped with air conditioners and has 5,000 animals. Built in 2014, it also has a treatment system for swine manure based on solid-liquid separation. The treated pig manure is used to make fertilisers. Phạm Đức Mạnh, who manages the place, said: “Pigs bred in an air-conditioned place have few diseases, need few antibiotics and grow rapidly. Xuyên Á General Hospital on October 20 officially opened its branch in the Mekong Delta province of Vĩnh Long. VNS Photo Viet Nam News VĨNH LONG — Xuyên Á General Hospital on Saturday opened a branch in the Mekong Delta province of Vĩnh Long that provides affordable high-tech healthcare services to residents. Construction on the 10-storey hospital started in October 2016. The facility has 1,183 beds for inpatients, and a staff of experienced doctors. The hospital has 28 departments, including interventional cardiology, open heart surgery, neurology, and spinal disorders. With total capital of VNĐ1.1 trillion (US$47.1 million), the hospital had a soft opening in August. After two months of operation, the number of insured patients accounted for nearly 75 per cent. According to the Office of the HCMC People’s Committee, the city government is seeking approval from Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to convert land zoned for tourism, relics and tourist attractions into science and technology parks. The proposal is part of a 1:2000 scale plan for the science and technology park project in Long Phuoc Ward of District 9 in close proximity to the national Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) in the same district.
