He also said in the same letter that “journalists should act like brave soldiers in the revolution to gain back unity and independence for the country.” One cannot imagine loftier ideals for this profession. Today, the lofty ideals may remain, but there are times I feel these are gathering dust in the shelves of our memory as the profession goes through one existential crisis after another. Vietnam's PMI posted 53.8 in December 2018, signaling a further solid improvement in the health of the manufacturing sector - PHOTO: TL HCMC – Vietnam’s manufacturing sector once again saw the strongest upturn among seven ASEAN countries in December 2018, though the growth eased from the particularly strong rate seen in the previous month. The headline Nikkei Vietnam Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) posted 53.8 last month, signaling a further solid improvement in the health of the local manufacturing sector. The Philippines also recorded a solid improvement, ranking second in the table with 53.2, followed by Myanmar with 52.5. Latest data of the report again signaled a lack of inflationary pressures in January. Input costs increased marginally, while output prices decreased for the fourth time in the past five months.
