HCM CITY – As more start-ups have been established, HCM City’s labour demand has increased, with 25,000 permanent and 7,000 temporary jobs that need to be filled in June. The main fields looking for workers are: sales, textiles, footwear, mechanics, automation, IT, transport, import-export, travel services and real estate, according to the city’s Centre for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labour Market Information (Falmi). Workers with a college or university degree make up 30.7 per cent of recruitment needs and those with an intermediate degree 18.9 per cent. In May, Falmi conducted a survey of 4,277 companies with a total of 49,105 vacancies. The survey found that mechanical engineering/automation and IT sectors have an increased need for experienced workers. The new policy has been issued as only 15 per cent of the university’s lecturers take part in research and international publishing activities. The value of rewards range from VNĐ30 million (US$1,320) to VNĐ200 million ($8,800), with the highest level applied to Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) publications with an impact factor (IF) of more than two points. ISI is a prestige bibliographic database of thousands of academic journals. This database allows researchers to identify frequently cited articles and who has cited them. Web of Science is a multidisciplinary research platform which enables simultaneous cross-search of a range of citation indexes and databases. It offers access to research tools such as citation reports and cited reference searching, and personalised features such as saved searches and alerts. In 2011, Vietnamese scientists and researchers had nearly 1,500 internationally-published journals and the number increased to over 3,800 in 2016. Speaking at a meeting yesterday to review health sector activities of the first six months of the year, Dr Nguyễn Tấn Bỉnh, the department’s director, said the aim was to raise trust among local residents in wards and communes. Doctors at local health stations would receive assistance from doctors at district-level hospitals, he said.
