Accordingly, the fare will rise from VNĐ5,000 to VNĐ6,000 on buses travelling a distance of less than 18km, and from VNĐ6,000 to VNĐ7,000 on routes extending beyond 18km. Students, however, will enjoy the universal discount fares of VNĐ2,000 on all public buses. Public Transport Management Centre Director Trần Chí Trung said the fare increase was “a necessary move”. “It will help balance the investment in new buses and cut the State budget spending for subsidies,” Trung said. HCM City is carrying out a programme to reduce traffic congestion and accidents in the city by 5 per cent by 2020. — Photo from plo.vn Viet Nam News HCM CITY — A decision to implement a programme to reduce traffic congestion and accidents by 2020 was signed by Trần Vĩnh Tuyến, deputy chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee, last Friday. The programme will include 97 projects that will include building new roads and a public transportation system. The projects will cost a total of VNĐ96.159 trillion (US$4.12 billion), and will be mostly funded by the State, the city, and official development assistance (ODA). Ten out of 97 projects costing VNĐ8.263 trillion ($354 million) will be built under Public-Private Partnership contracts. City seeks 25,000 workers in June
HCM CITY – As more start-ups have been established, HCM City’s labour demand has increased, with 25,000 permanent and 7,000 temporary jobs that need to be filled in June. The main fields looking for workers are: sales, textiles, footwear, mechanics, automation, IT, transport, import-export, travel services and real estate, according to the city’s Centre for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labour Market Information (Falmi). Workers with a college or university degree make up 30.7 per cent of recruitment needs and those with an intermediate degree 18.9 per cent. In May, Falmi conducted a survey of 4,277 companies with a total of 49,105 vacancies. The survey found that mechanical engineering/automation and IT sectors have an increased need for experienced workers. Forty-four per cent of the jobs in the mechanical engineering/automation field need experienced workers, with 33 per cent of the jobs requiring at least one year of experience.
