Historic visit by S African ship (25-10-2008) HA NOI — A South African naval ship, the SAS Spioenkop, will visit HCM City from next Wednesday to November 5 - the first by a naval vessel from the African continent. The visit is part of a tour of Asian territorial waters by the 121-metre-long vessel. The cruise will take in Singapore, China, Malaysia and India. SAS Spioenkop’s visit to Viet Nam is aimed at strengthening defence co-operation between South Africa and Viet Nam, the South African Ambassador, Ratubatsi Super Moloi, said yesterday. While in Viet Nam, the crew will join cultural and sporting activities, including a football match, a volleyball game and charitable functions.
