BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — LSU coach Ed Orgeron says safety Todd Harris has been ruled out for the remainder of the season because of an injury during the fourth-ranked Tigers’ 65-14 victory over Northwestern State. While LSU has not disclosed specifics about Harris’ condition, he had ice wrapped around his right knee when he left Saturday night’s game in Tiger Stadium. Orgeron says Harris’ injury was “an unfortunate accident,” adding that Harris “just landed on the ground wrong.” Orgeron also said Monday that defensive linemen Rashard Lawrence and Glen Logan won’t be ready to return at Vanderbilt this Saturday. Neither played last weekend because of unspecified injuries which occurred in a victory at Texas on Sept. 7. Meanwhile, Orgeron says he’s received “positive news” about offensive lineman Ed Ingram’s prospects for returning to the team. Ingram missed all of last season and the start of this season … [Read more...] about Coach Ed Orgeron: LSU safety Todd Harris out for the season

Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren Signal Support for Reparations for Slavery: ‘People in This Country Do Not Start From the Same Place’
Senators Kamala Harris of California and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, both 2020 presidential candidates, have said they support reparations for black Americans to redress the legacy of slavery. Last week, in an interview with The Breakfast Club radio show, Harris said she was in favor of some form of government reparations for black Americans. Asked for her stance on reparations, Harris said: "I think that we have got to address that again. It's back to the inequities." "America has a history of 200 years of slavery. We had Jim Crow. We had legal segregation in America for a very long time," she said. "We have got to recognize, back to that earlier point, people aren't starting out on the same base in terms of their ability to succeed and so we have got to recognize that and give people a lift up." The senator then pointed to her Livable Incomes for Families Today, the Middle Class Act tax cut plan, which seeks to provide middle class and working families with a tax credit of up … [Read more...] about Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren Signal Support for Reparations for Slavery: ‘People in This Country Do Not Start From the Same Place’
Hillary Warns: Democratic Candidate Must Be Able To Win Electoral College
Twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton urged supporters on Monday to elect a Democratic presidential nominee who can win the Electoral College vote in 2020 against President Donald Trump. “We have to hope that whoever ends up nominated can win the Electoral College,” Clinton told a crowd while promoting her new book, “The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience,” while in Denver, Colorado. “I think several of our candidates could win the popular vote but as I know … that’s not enough.” The former secretary of state famously won the popular vote in 2016 by receiving more than 2.8 million more votes than Trump, but she ultimately failed to secure the presidency after she fell far short of the required absolute majority of 270 electoral votes needed to win. “I don’t think we have a choice — we have to win” Clinton urged the crowd of nearly 2,000 people. She further noted that while … [Read more...] about Hillary Warns: Democratic Candidate Must Be Able To Win Electoral College
Tagovailoa propels No. 1 Bama past No. 22 Texas A&M, 45-23
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Tua Tagovailoa heaved his first pass to a diving DeVonta Smith in the end zone for a touchdown. The 30-yarder wasn’t a replay of their winning connection in the national championship game, but it did set the stage for No. 1 Alabama’s 45-23 victory over No. 22 Texas A&M on Saturday. The game was close for a while before turning into yet another Crimson Tide romp. “We knew coming into this game it would be a 60-minute dogfight, and that’s kind of what it was,” tailback Damien Harris. “They played us close in the first half but we knew if we just kept grinding away, that eventually we’d be able to pull away.” OK, it was more of a 27-minute dogfight, but that’s more than other Tide opponents have mustered. Tagovailoa passed for 387 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another score for the Tide in its first test against a ranked team. Kellen Mond and the Aggies (2-2, 0-1) couldn’t put up nearly … [Read more...] about Tagovailoa propels No. 1 Bama past No. 22 Texas A&M, 45-23
Donald Trump falls out with the military establishment he once wooed
THE 45TH PRESIDENT began his term by packing his administration with military officers. Since then he has broken with the men he once called “my generals”. On November 15th Donald Trump pardoned two soldiers accused of war crimes and reversed the demotion of Eddie Gallagher, a Navy SEAL convicted in a military court of posing with a dead captive. When the navy sought to remove Mr Gallagher’s Trident pin, which marks out SEALs, Mr Trump ordered that he be allowed to keep it. Richard Spencer, the secretary of the navy, balked at this micromanagement of military justice and was soon fired (he was also accused of trying to cut a deal with the White House behind the back of his boss, Mark Esper). All this adds to the cocktail of civil-military dysfunction that has swirled since Mr Trump took office. Mr Trump’s initial reliance on retired and serving officers to fill senior posts reflected a paucity of qualified civilians willing to serve him. But it was also an … [Read more...] about Donald Trump falls out with the military establishment he once wooed
US evangelist Billy Graham dies at 99
Evangelist Billy Graham has died at the age of 99, a spokesman confirmed on Wednesday. According to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, he preached to more people than anyone else in history during his 70 years on the pulpit. A pioneer of televangelism as far back as the 1950s, Graham reached hundreds of millions of Christians in his televised speeches. With his messages of redemption and salvation through the bible, Graham was extremely popular with leading political figures — meeting with every occupant of the White House from President Harry Truman to Barack Obama, including the Catholic John F. Kennedy. He also met with Queen Elizabeth II during a trip to London in the 1960s, and famously counseled President Richard Nixon around the time of the Watergate Scandal. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has also said she sought Graham's help while dealing with her husband's infidelity. His 95th birthday celebrations were attended by media magnate Rupert Murdoch, … [Read more...] about US evangelist Billy Graham dies at 99
