OAKLAND, Calif.—The day before the last night of their dynasty, the Golden State Warriors ended practice by playing a song called “Changes.” This was not a coincidence. The Warriors take pride in curating their musical playlists, and “Changes” by Tupac was the perfect song for this particular situation. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were busy shooting 3-pointers. Draymond Green, Warriors coach Steve Kerr and Warriors president Bob Myers were laughing on the bench. They had been in the same places doing the same things in... … [Read more...] about The End of the Golden State Warriors’ Era of Invincibility
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Draymond Green had 20 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists, and the Golden State Warriors beat the Portland Trail Blazers 110-99 on Saturday night for a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference finals. Green had his seventh career postseason triple-double and Stephen Curry scored 36 points for Golden State, which moved a win away from a fifth straight trip to the NBA finals with Game 4 set for Monday. CJ McCollum had 23 points for the Trail Blazers, who led by 18 points in the second quarter. Damian Lillard added 19 points, but Portland was hurt at the line, making just 20 of 33 attempts. After trailing 66-53 at the half, the Warriors mounted a third-quarter comeback to lead 82-79 going into the fourth. Jonas Jerebko's jumper pushed the lead to 90-82 with 7:26 left. Curry's 3-pointer made it 98-87 with just under five minutes to go, and Portland struggled to catch up — similar to their fourth-quarter fade in Game 2. Share Tweet Email AP BY: David IsaacNovember 30, 2013 5:00 amAt first sight, the A-Z dictionary format of James Delingpole’s latest effort, The Little Green Book of Eco-Fascism, seems surprising. But there is a sound reason for its structure. In his prior book, Watermelons, Delingpole cited George Orwell: "Who controls the language controls the culture. Who controls the culture wins the political argument. … [Orwell] explained that one of the most effective ways of suppressing heretical thought was to eliminate undesirable words or strip them of their meaning." Eco-fascists have a talent for that sort of thing. As Delingpole notes in his entry on "Language," the "greenies" rely on "making seriously unpleasant things sound like desirable, cozy ones." For example, "Communistic wealth redistribution, hyper-regulation, and falling living standards: sustainability"; "Deliberately engineered economic stagnation: smart growth"; "Bird-slicing, bat-chomping death zone: … [Read more...] about The Greens Are Coming!
The NBA has rescinded a double technical called on Warriors forward Draymond Green and Rockets center Nene in Tuesday’s 115-109 win over Houston in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals at Oracle Arena, The Chronicle has confirmed. The league’s decision puts Green’s technical-foul total for the postseason at three instead of four. Per NBA rules, a player is automatically suspended one game once he picks up his seventh technical in the playoffs. After Rockets guard James Harden attempted a foul shot with 1.3 seconds left in the third quarter Tuesday, Nene wrapped his left arm around Green’s right shoulder, prompting Green to turn and confront Nene face-to-face. The two were quickly broken up, but referee Ed Malloy still gave them a double technical. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said after the game that Golden State intended to ask the league to rescind Green’s technical.
