Flights: Belgium strike shuts down air space for 24 hours - 400 flights cancelled (Image: Getty Images) Flights in Belgium have been cancelled as the country's air space was completely shut down by air traffic control authorities. Staffing uncertainties as a result of a nationwide strike led to the total closure. At least 400 flights have been suspended with an estimated 50,000 passengers disrupted. The shut down began last night at 9pm and will continue until 9pm tonight. This is the latest travel advice.
