IANSUpdated:May 6, 2018, 10:48 AM IST Image: REUTERS/Brendan McDermid - RC12B29DF610 London: Actress Emily Blunt says she would not watch "Marry Poppins" when she was filming "Mary Poppins Returns". "Ultimately, I didn't end up watching (the original). I had seen it as a child, so that image was sort of emblazoned in my memory but I never watched the film during the process - I just read the books," Blunt told Heat magazine. She added: "So however people view it, it's my version of her. I hope people like it. I took her from the books and she is batty, eccentric and incredibly vain. "It was just a joy to play somebody who knows that she is better than everybody else, but ultimately, has this incredibly warm core, and that there is this plan that she takes people on. She is magical." The actress credits director Rob Marshall … [Read more...] about Emily Blunt Refused to Watch Mary Poppins While Filming the Remake

“Nothing’s gone forever,” Emily Blunt sings in the new trailer for “Mary Poppins Returns.” Indeed, the sequel seems poised to capture the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious magic of the original, as it features brightly colored old-fashioned animation mixed with upbeat live-action musical numbers. Ms. Blunt steps into Julie Andrews’s timeless role as the titular nanny who drops into the lives of the children of the now-grown Michael and Jane Banks (Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer), via a kite, naturally. Lin-Manuel Miranda plays Jack, a lamplighter character reminiscent of Dick Van Dyke’s chimney sweep, Bert, but based on the footage shown so far, the “Hamilton” mastermind’s British accent seems slightly more believable. Mr. Van Dyke can also be seen, defying his age in a dance number and playing a different role as the son of a banker. Other notable faces glimpsed in the trailer include Angela Lansbury, a veteran of the Disney … [Read more...] about New Trailer: ‘Mary Poppins Returns,’ With Emily Blunt
Disney’s sequel to the classic story of a magical nanny will be in theaters next year, but now we have our first look at Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins. And she’s filling the big shoes that Julie Andrews left pretty well. Here’s the full look at Blunt: And here’s Julie Andrews: There’s a lot more color in the new costume, and a lot fewer flowers, but the classic silhouette is all there. It’s a pretty good way to update the ensemble, actually, and not force Blunt into a position where she has to wear a recreation and generate expectations about how similar she is to the previous Mary Poppins. It’s a good look and one which does its job in making me curious to see where it goes. Here’s part of the official description from Disney: The film is set in 1930s depression-era London (the time period of the original novels) and is drawn from the wealth of material in PL Travers’ additional seven books. In the story, Michael (Whishaw) and Jane … [Read more...] about How Does Emily Blunt’s Mary Poppins Compare to the Original?
John Krasinski announced the end of filming for the upcoming A Quiet Place 2 by posting a sweet shot of him holding hands with wife Emily Blunt, who is reprising her role in the highly anticipated sequel. “Well… that’s a wrap on #PartII See you on March 20th!” Krasinski wrote alongside the shot. Krasinski once again wrote and directed the sequel, though he likely won’t appear in the movie since his character met a gut-wrenching death in the 2018 thriller. RELATED: Emily Blunt: People Told Me John Krasinski and I Would Divorce by End of Filming A Quiet Place The actor, 39, first teased his idea for the sequel in an interview he did with Deadline along with Blunt, 36, earlier this year. “The idea for it is pretty simple,” Krasinski said of the sequel. “I’m writing now — I don’t have it fleshed out — but the thought that occurred to me, that really excited me about it, was that most sequels are about the … [Read more...] about John Krasinski and Wife Emily Blunt Hold Hands as He Reveals A Quiet Place 2 Is Done Filming
Forgive me if I’m already deeply suspicious of the Jungle Cruise film, another Disney movie based on a Disney ride that still somehow relies on racist stereotypes (and also a pretty shitty grasp of geography), even though it won’t be out until summer of 2020. But here’s another reason for skepticism: TMZ, citing “sources,” reports that the Jungle Cruise is another Hollywood movie with a wild gender pay gap, with The Rock supposedly taking in $22 million to Emily Blunt’s $9 million, despite the fact that they are costars. That’s less than half his upfront pay, and even though he is generally a big box office draw, in TMZ parlance she is “Mary freakin’ Poppins.” (It’s unclear how much the two are making from box office revenues or other backend pay.) I love Dwayne Johnson as much as the next guy (maybe not as much as most straight men, though), but if American culture’s most valued women—famous and beautiful … [Read more...] about Is Emily Blunt Getting Paid Half of What Co-Star The Rock Is Earning for
