The morning after former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz was shouted down by a protester at a Barnes & Noble book event—“Don’t help elect Trump! You egotistical billionaire asshole”—he came back for more pummeling on The View. Schultz, who is promoting both his new memoir From the Ground Up and his deeply controversial bid to run for president in 2020 as an independent, was all smiles when he sat down behind the table for his interview. But it slowly started to fade as he realized how worried the hosts were about his potential to be a presidential spoiler. The lifelong Democrat said, “I think I would have to be disingenuous to run as a Democrat today, but I think the question that I'm asking myself and I think many of us are asking ourselves is what kind of country do we want to live in? And right now, I think it’s clear that the country we are living in needs significant change, not only change because of this president, but change because … [Read more...] about ‘The View’ Makes Howard Schultz Squirm: Can You Really ‘Live With’ Re-Electing Trump?
Pop superstar Miley Cyrus unloaded on President Donald Trump in an interview for the upcoming issue of NME Magazine, vowing not to leave the U.S. and instead promising to stay and fight Trump’s “hate with love.” During the 2016 election, the “Wrecking Ball” singer had repeatedly said she would “move out da country” should Trump win. Now, she admits it was a “dumb” idea.“I’m not leaving the country, that’s dumb. Because that’s me abandoning my country when I think I’ve got a good thing to say to my country,” Cyrus told NME, People reports. “And trust me, I hear every day on my Instagram, ‘Just leave already! When are you going to leave?’ Wherever I am, my voice is going to be heard, and I’ll make sure of it.” The child star-turned-global pop icon plans to get “very political” with her new album, “Younger … [Read more...] about Miley Cyrus Takes Back Vow to Flee Country After Trump Win: ‘I’m Not F*cking Leaving’
Washington (CNN)Howard Schultz, the former CEO of Starbucks, was heckled by a protester Monday night as he weighs an 2020 independent bid, which many Democrats argue would hand President Donald Trump a second term. "What I said last night is that I am seriously considering running for president as a centrist independent," Schultz said during a book event in New York City, referring to his interview with CBS's "60 Minutes" that aired Sunday. "And I wanted to clarify the word 'independent,' which I view merely as a designation on the ballot." That's when a protester in the crowd interrupted. Howard Schultz's potential 2020 bid gives Democrats a double shot of unease "Don't help elect Trump, you egotistical billionaire a**hole," the protester yelled. "Go back to getting ratioed on Twitter. Go back to Davos with the other billionaire elites who think they know how to run the world. That's not what democracy is." The protester was drowned out by boos from others in the audience. … [Read more...] about Former Starbucks CEO heckled at book event for weighing independent run: ‘Don’t help elect Trump!’
