Ben Tre promotes OCOP products in HCMC By Le Hoang Ben Tre’s green-skin grapefruit is attractive to visitors - PHOTO: THANH TAN HCMC – More than 120 products of the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre’s “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) program are being introduced at a fair that opened in HCMC today, January 24. This is the first time Ben Tre has promoted products from its OCOP program in HCMC. The fair, being held at Big C An Lac supermarket in Binh Tan District until January 29, features 100 booths displaying specialties from Ben Tre such as coconut jam, dried fish and green-skin grapefruit; ornamental plants; handicraft products; rice; and seafood among others. Ho Chi Minh tributes go global in Thailand, France (08-03-2005) BANGKOK — Thailand is planning to build a memorial site to Viet Nam’s late President Ho Chi Minh in Nongon village in the north-east where he briefly lived. A delegation from the Ho Chi Minh Museum has just returned from this Udon Province village after providing documents on the life of Uncle Ho, particularly the time prior to 1930 when he lived there. It also offered some rare varieties of plants for the 64,000sq.m. memorial site, which is expected to become a tourist destination once it opens on September 2, Viet Nam’s National Day. The smartphone is the group’s first product in its efforts to bring a Vietnamese brand to the global market. The Vsmart phones will be distributed via 90 outlets of MediaMarkt, Europe’s top consumer electronics retailer, which has been operating for 35 years and has entered 13 nations worldwide. Nguyen Quang Hieu, a representative of the Plant Protection Department, said that the United States had approved mango imports from Vietnam after 10 years of negotiations starting in 2009. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development collaborated with the Dong Thap government and Chanh Thu Import-Export Company to hold a ceremony to publicize the first shipment of mangoes to the United States.
