Tourists flock to seaside destinations The Saigon Times Daily Many families enjoy their holiday in the popular beach city of Vung Tau on April 28 – PHOTO: NLD HCMC – Popular seaside destinations such as Vung Tau Beach, Ly Son Island and Phu Quoc Island are typically crowded with tourists on Reunification Day, April 30, and International Labor Day, May 1. According to Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, more than 12,000 tourists are expected to visit Ly Son Island District, 18 nautical miles off the south-central coastal province of Quang Ngai during the five-day holiday, marking a year-on-year rise of over 50%. Ly Son’s Sa Ky Port saw more than 3,000 tourist arrivals at the island on April 28, the second day of the holiday. Nearly 40 vessels departed the port every 30 minutes. Le Tan Hai, director of the Sa Ky Port Management Board, told the newspaper that more than 10,000 tourists had booked their tickets online, while the remainder had purchased them directly.
