HCM City is shifting to urban farming with a priority in high-tech agriculture, according to Nhân. He said that HCM City and New Zealand had opportunities to improve co-operation and share experiences as well as technology transfer to develop clean agriculture, and improve productivity and the value of products. Prime Minister optimistic at conclusion of New York visit (01-10-2007) NEW YORK — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung left New York on the evening of September 28 (local time), after attending the 62nd session of the United Nations General Assembly. Earlier, PM Dung called at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), met with Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, worked with the Viet Nam-US Senior Advisory Council on Enhancement of Viet Nam’s Competitiveness, and received leaders from US leading groups. At the NYSE, the government leader witnessed the signing of a co-operation agreement between the NYSE and the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre in the fields of personnel training, managerial experience exchange and building of trading systems. This year marks the 45 th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 20 years of defence cooperation between the two countries. As of April, Australia had invested in 182 projects in HCM City, with a total capital of US$188 million. The ministry’s data shows that in 2017, Việt Nam had nearly 11,700 agricultural cooperatives and 30 cooperative coalitions. Some 3,900 agricultural cooperatives had been newly established, while 6,650 others were re-registered under the 2012 agricultural cooperative law. The average income of an agricultural cooperative is VNĐ980 million (US$43,000) per year and that of a cooperative coalition is VNĐ1.5 billion ($66,000) per year. The video teleconference (VTC) was briefed by Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operation Jean-Pierre Lacroix on “reform of the UN peacekeeping.” Speaking at the event, Quý said peacekeeping is critical for the UN to maintain global peace and security. He welcomed contributions made by UN peacekeeping forces and efforts to reform peacekeeping missions, particularly the adoption of the Secretary-General’s Action for Peacekeeping (A4P) initiative.
