Portsmouth have entered a 70-day exclusivity agreement with the American businessman Michael Eisner and his Tornante Group as the League Two promotion hopefuls look set to be sold. Talks with the billionaire former Walt Disney chairman were confirmed by Pompey, who have been fan-owned since 2013, and a period of due diligence will begin. A statement carried out in a Q&A format on Portsmouth’s website said: “The board and Mr Eisner will look to negotiate the terms of what would effectively be the best and final offer they wish to make for the club; at which point we will advise all shareholders – both presidents and those with the PST [Pompey Supporters’ Trust] – on the terms of the offer. Shareholders will then be asked by the club and the PST to vote to either accept or reject the offer.” Trevor Birch, former administrator for the club, will advise Pompey during the process and liaise with all stakeholders. The statement ended: “As all our … [Read more...] about Portsmouth in takeover talks with billionaire former Walt Disney chairman

Spider-Man is axed: Row over profit share weaves a tangled web leading to Sony exiling the superhero as it refuses to agree on a 50/50 with Disney which owns Marvel
Spider-Man is set to be exiled from the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Disney and Sony Pictures were unable to agree financial terms for future releases - despite the most recent outing breaking box office records. It is understood that Disney, which owns Marvel, wanted to split future profits 50/50 going forward but Sony, which owns the Spider-Man universe, dismissed the bid out of hand, forcing months of negotiations and an eventual stalemate. Under the current arrangement, Marvel gets about five percent of the first-dollar gross. Disney demanded a more even split in the financing deal that essentially sees Spider-Man rented out to the mega-popular cinematic universe by Sony. The move also means Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who as a producer has overseen the introduction to the big screen of 23 heroes - all of which reached the top of the box office, as well as a collective gross of $26.8 billion - will no longer be involved with the Spider-Man franchise, … [Read more...] about Spider-Man is axed: Row over profit share weaves a tangled web leading to Sony exiling the superhero as it refuses to agree on a 50/50 with Disney which owns Marvel
Feminist Tries To Cancel Disney’s ‘The Mandalorian’ Over Lack Of Female Characters, Gets Wrecked
Career radical feminist, Anita Sarkeesian, tried to “cancel” Disney+’s hit new Star Wars property, “The Mandalorian” earlier this week but met with a wave of pushback by Star Wars fans and social media users who’ve grown tired of Sarkeesian’s woke crusade against nerd culture. “The Mandalorian” is, arguably, Disney’s most successful addition to the “Star Wars” lexicon to date, garnering a wave of positive chatter from both critics and Star Wars fans alike — a huge feat, particularly following Rian Johnson’s awful sequel film, “The Last Jedi” — and its “Baby Yoda” character, “The Child,” quickly became a viral sensation. But, like any popular entry into nerd culture, its success quickly made “The Mandalorian” a target for woke critics, including Sarkeesian, who made a name for herself by being a “feminist gaming critic” on the front lines … [Read more...] about Feminist Tries To Cancel Disney’s ‘The Mandalorian’ Over Lack Of Female Characters, Gets Wrecked

Letter from a Former Olympian Who Needs a Career
Source: Wikipedia, CC 3.0 In each installment of this daily series, I respond to a composite letter that asks for my career advice. Dear Marty, Ever since I was 8, I devoted myself completely to snowboarding and it paid off. I finished in the top 10 in a snowboarding event in the 2014 Olympics. I never really thought much about a career. I sort of figured that if I did really well in snowboarding, I'd get endorsement deals from snowboarding companies or get to be some kind of motivational speaker. But the only thing I've gotten from being a snowboarding Olympian have been a few speaking gigs, like at a local Rotary Club, but those pay zero. And the most I've ever gotten out of a snowboarding company was $150 to review one of their new snowboards. I've learned that unless you're a gold medalist in a popular sport like boxing or skiing, you need to look for a career just like anyone else. Most of the people on the U.S. Olympic snowboarding team are doing random things like bookkeeper, … [Read more...] about Letter from a Former Olympian Who Needs a Career
